Angels on Broadway

THE unusual country-and-western musical rodeo cabaret "Angels on Horseback" opens at On Broadway on March 3

This thigh-slapping show is directed by Peter Hayes and features Fiona Du Plooy and Candice D’Arcy backed by musicians Gene Kierman and Jamie Jupiter.

"Angels will have you rolling in the aisles with their boot-scootin’ take on local life and love. The rollicking ‘Ode to Ryk Neethling’ has female audience members singing along in agreement," a press release describes the show.

These country gals are feisty and not scared to share their opinions. After another successful show in their home city Cape Town, D’Arcy and Du Plooy were overheard arguing over who they rated as the queen of country music. While Candice maintained Dolly Parton deserved some kind of title for being the oldest Barbie in existence, Fiona was determined that Billy Ray Cyrus rules them all.

One thing they do agree on however, is that men folk can give a lot of uphill, something they refer to in their songs. Many a lonely girl will relate to the lament of the serial singleton ‘Don’t call me, I’ll call you.’

Tickets are R85 per person.
